'Fire Alarm' is bright red in spring and fall and darkens to a brown-red during the summer. This hybrid of H. villosa has thick, leathery red, red leaves that make a delightful medium-sized mound. 'Fire Alarm' compliments almost every section of the color palette, but it can stand on its own without question. This mounding perennial quickly reaches an overall height of 13" and spreads 14". It does best in full sun or part shade or full shade with moderately well drained, organic soil types. Soil pH: 5.5-6.5. It does best with average watering, drying between waterings. Small white flowers on thin stalks appear above foliage during summer. The reddest foliage of any Heuchera! Large glossy leaves shine red all spring through fall. Bigger plant than 'Fire Chief'. Glossier, redder, and more vigorous than 'Autumn Leaves'. Use as an accent, in containers, for shade mass plantings, mixed beds and winter color. Cooler temps bring out more fiery red color.
